Sustainability Match Program in Ferencváros Stadium
On Sunday, 3 November 2024, Ferencváros TC demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by hosting a Sustainability Matchday Program during the Ferencváros–Debreceni VSC match in the 12th round of the OTP Bank Liga. The event took place at the iconic Groupama Arena, where the 35-time Hungarian champions and six-time consecutive European group stage participants combined football passion with a strong environmental message.
As fans entered the stadium, they were greeted with a variety of eco-focused activities designed to engage, educate, and inspire.
One of the standout features of the day was the Volkswagen electric car showcase, a display aimed at encouraging fans to explore environmentally friendly mobility solutions. The exhibition highlighted the benefits of electric vehicles in reducing carbon emissions and creating a cleaner future for urban transportation.
To promote alternatives to single-use plastics, fans were invited to take part in a basket-weaving activity, showing the value of sustainable materials and traditional craftsmanship. This initiative provided a fun and practical way to encourage the use of reusable alternatives.
In addition to these activities, visitors could enjoy a board game focusing on sustainability. The game encouraged fans of all ages to engage with topics like recycling, waste management, and eco-conscious habits in an entertaining and educational manner. There was also a demonstration of products made from waste, illustrating how everyday materials can be repurposed to reduce environmental impact.
Another popular attraction was the Green Arena exhibition. Here, supporters learned about the Groupama Arena’s Green Arena programme, an initiative dedicated to make the stadium operations more sustainable. Following the exhibition, fans were invited to test their knowledge through a quiz game. Participants who completed the quiz had the opportunity to spin the wheel of fortune and win exciting eco-themed prizes.
