SV Werder Bremen publish their Sustainability Report 2022/2023
SV Werder Bremen has anchored its ecological and social responsibility at the top of its agenda as a strategic corporate goal. The sustainability report is intended to “provide an honest overview of our social, ecological and entrepreneurial activities and show where we stand with our diverse commitment,” explains Anne-Kathrin Laufmann, Managing Director Sport & Sustainability, on the occasion of the publication.
On over 50 pages, the report looks back on the projects implemented in the 2022/23 season.

For example, Werder already uses 100% green electricity. Greenhouse gas emissions are to be reduced to net zero by 2040. More than 50% of employees already use climate-neutral commuter transport.

For the Managing Director, the focus is on reducing emissions, conserving resources and waste management. When it comes to mobility in particular, it is important to find solutions and tackle the major challenges. For example, the mobility behaviour of fans, i.e. their journeys to and from matches, accounts for around 60 per cent of Werder’s carbon footprint and the largest share within Scope 3 emissions, which are generated indirectly along the value chain.
A lot is already being done at Osterdeich: from training their own SDG scouts in the company to the carpooling portal, where fans can join together to form carpools for their journeys, to the acquisition of further sustainability partners.
